The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing the DUER wholesale business in the US through targeting prospects, selling them on the brand and building relationships, as well as planning and executing sales strategies and sales support. The right person is sales savvy in apparel, extremely detail oriented, organized, willing and able to travel, hard-working, able to multitask, confident and outgoing - with great people and sales skills.

This is a remote role with ideal candidates based in LA, Denver, or Seattle, and frequent travel to Vancouver and around the United States. 

The Successful Candidate will be responsible for the following:

Business Development

  • Executing and refining a US sales growth strategy for the contemporary men’s market in defined regions;
  • Developing a list of target men’s and women’s specialty retailers, multi door accounts and US majors;
  • Opening new accounts and generating hot leads to convert for Spring 2020 immediate and  the Fall 2020 selling season
  • Targeting and securing retailers for appointments at national and regional trade shows and meeting defined new account and sales targets at each show;
  • Supporting the Marketing team with national and regional trade show planning & execution;
  • Planning for trade shows including developing lists of attendees to meet with, arranging meetings, organizing calendars, managing follow-up, closing on the account;
  • Providing ongoing detailed sell-in and sell-through reporting on all assigned and new accounts;
  • Building long-term relationships with new and existing customers to ensure best in class brand & product training;
  • Fueling brand growth through detailed account knowledge, including staff training, assortment and merchandising expertise to ultimately ensure product assortment growth.

The Ideal Candidate will have: 

  • The ability to identify challenges and opportunities while providing solutions and recommendations for each;
  • Proven ability to sell at all levels, buyer, DMM and GMM, executive and owner levels;
  • Relationships and understanding of business model at department store, major specialty store and boutique level;
  • Min of 1-3 years in equivalent position with 5-7 years of experience in apparel sales
  • Proven as a business development manager, sales executive or in a relevant role, or
  • At least 5 years experience in wholesale sales, with strong current and active relationships with buyers and management in department stores, specialty chains, and catalogues;
  • An excellent sales track record with extensive network in the men’s and women’s contemporary market;
  • A sense of urgency to complete projects and close sales with firm due dates;
  • Experience working with retailers such as Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters and/or Bloomingdales;
  • Strong relationships with specialty stores and boutiques;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Expertise in MS Office and CRM software;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Outgoing and brave; not afraid to take risks;
  • Great people skills;
  • A strong understanding of our products, our competition in the industry and our positioning preferred.

    Further Requirements
